How does lighting and color ehance the story?

Atmosphere-feel,energy,around
mood how -you feel emotions
the location -where something's happening

Lighting natural-produced in nature, often sun moon stars, lighting
Artificial-man-made light make feel clean, clinical.

Warm-Yellow makes you feel safe, warm
Cold- White/Blue tone makes, feel clean, clinic

Bright- Fills room makes you feel happy, safe
Dull- Fills part of space only, Often creepy/murky

The color palette-predominate color used in a scene.

What happens-
Coroline +her parents are eating breakfast in the real world  they seem dull, depressed, lifeless

Technique-  Lighting-cold 
                    -Natural lighting-from clouds outside the window.
                    -dull

Effects on the viewer-  feels boring ,won't want to be there
boring, dull, lifeless.

Directors purpose -  Set the mood that the real world is boring+empty.
- Gives the other world more opportunity. 
- Looks can be deceiving- it is not actually a bad thing.

Other technech- Costumes-real parents wear dull plane clothes with simpler fabric and patterns

Brainstorm

What's happening Crolines is in the Otherworld sitting down in the kitchen weel her other parents watch her.

 Lighting- Man-made by the lightbulb on the ceiling so it gives a bright yellow,warm feeling- How do I know this? it is night time outside and it is bright and warm inside. This gives Coroline and the audience an inviting and curious feel about the other world.
 
Effects on the viewer, happy want to be there joyful, welcoming, joyful
(feel, think)

Directors purpose- Looks can be deceiving
